Last Of The Donkey Pilgrims: A Man's Journey Through Ireland
by: O'Hara, Kevin
Kevin O'Hara was a man who was at the crossroads of life... and his pain
threatened to destroy not only his own happiness but any chance of a happy
life with his wife. In desperation Kevin traveled to Ireland, the land
of his people, to seek some sort of balm for his pain. It was there that
he formed a wonderfully daft plan. The age-old method of traveling by
donkey cart was beginning to disappear from the Irish countryside as modern
life crowded in. What better way to experience the beauty of Ireland than
to travel the length of the land in the old way - man and donkey, drinking
in the sights and sounds of the country. 430 pgs.

Livestock Guardians: Using Dogs, Donkeys & Llamas to
Protect Your Herd (Storey's Working Animals)
by: Dohner, Janet Vorwald
Predators are increasing in number and range. These predators pose a serious
threat to both farm animals and the financial well-being of the farmers
who raise them. Fortunately, there's a solution that is low cost, nonviolent,
and highly effective: livestock guardian animals. This book is a comprehensive
guide for farmers struggling to reduce predation of sheep, goats, and other
livestock. Dohner, who has more than 26 years of experience with guardian
animals, helps owners understand the keys to effective livestock protection:
careful selection of the right guardian animal, proper guardian livestock
bonding, dedicated training, and ongoing problem-solving. Several chapters
address the use of guardian dogs; these chapters explain how to evaluate,
train, understand, and socialize these hardworking canines, along with info
on guardian breeds from around the world. Additional chapters on livestock
guardian donkeys and llamas help readers select and train these animals
as well. The thorough coverage of livestock guardians includes health care
information; breed profiles; case studies of real farmers effectively using
guard animals; an appendix with resources, organizations, and Web sites;
and a 16-page color photographic insert of guardian breeds. Many B/W illustrations
& drawings. 229 pgs.

Story Of A Nodding Donkey
by: Hope, Laura Lee
The Nodding Donkey dated his birth from the day he received the beautiful
coat of varnish in the workshop of Santa Claus at the North Pole. Before
that he was just some pieces of wood, glued together. His head was not glued
on, however, but was fastened in such a manner that with the least motion
the Donkey could nod it up and down, and also sidewise. It is not every
wooden donkey who is able to nod his head in as many ways as could the Donkey
about whom I am going to tell you... 108 pgs.
